This month on Audible I read Red Platoon, a first hand experience from soldiers on the ground at a remote American base in Afghanistan which came under heavy attack and was overrun by insurgents.
The author was awarded the Medal of Honor for his role in the “Battle of Keating” firefight where many soldiers from Black Knight Troop lost their lives defending the remote outpost.
There are quite a number of sad moments in the book and it can be quite heavy going. However I found it to be a well written gripping read, it’s a book that you can’t put down once you’ve started.
Excellent read: 9/10
